Family tree

A private family tree that lives in your browser. Add people, then switch between a pedigree, a fan chart and descendants. Find how any two people are related, open a GEDCOM from another program, and save one back out.

Free · runs in your browser · nothing you type is uploaded

Opening your tree…

But the records of the fathers, even the patriarchs, concerning the right of Priesthood, the Lord my God preserved in mine own hands; therefore a knowledge of the beginning of the creation, and also of the planets, and of the stars, as they were made known unto the fathers, have I kept even unto this day, and I shall endeavor to write some of these things upon this record, for the benefit of my posterity that shall come after me.

Questions

Where is my tree saved?

In this browser on this device (its private storage). Nothing is sent to TempleKit. Save a GEDCOM file to keep a copy or to move it to another device or program.

Can I bring in my tree from Ancestry, MyHeritage or a desktop program?

Yes. Export a GEDCOM (.ged) file from that service or program, then press Open GEDCOM here. We read names, sex, birth, christening, death, burial and marriage dates and places, parent and spouse links, and notes.

Does this connect to FamilySearch?

No. TempleKit never signs in to FamilySearch and never reads or changes FamilySearch Family Tree. This is a separate, private tree for planning, printing charts and sharing with relatives.

How are living people handled?

Anyone with no death information who was born in the last 110 years, or who you mark Living, is treated as living. When you save a GEDCOM to share, you can keep them private ("Living" with no details) or leave them out.
