About us

Why we built this

I'm Blake Lundquist. My brother Mitch, our parents Vic and Cindy, and I are temple workers in the Newport Beach California Temple, and we serve on the same shift. I first served as a temple worker in the Provo Utah Temple for about six months while I was a student at BYU in 2017–2018. That's the original Provo temple, now being rebuilt as the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple. I've served in Newport Beach since April 2023.

Serving together got our family working on our own family history names. Every week we watched patrons handle cards with names they knew nothing about, and we saw how easily reserved names can stall: cards printed and forgotten, reservations expiring, names waiting in a cabinet for someone to pick them up.

So we started using technology to fix the small things:

The first time we brought labeled cards to the temple, patrons and workers kept asking how we did it. TempleKit is our answer: the same tools, made simple enough for anyone in the family to use.

What TempleKit is: an independent tool, built by a family of temple workers, that helps you prepare and print your own family's names more clearly.

What it isn't: it isn't affiliated with the Church, and it never reserves names or signs into FamilySearch for you. You stay in control of your tree and your reservations.
