Make your cards, step by step

- 1
Print your names from FamilySearch as a PDF
In FamilySearch, open Temple, then Reservations. Select the names, choose to print family name cards, and save the PDF instead of printing it.
- 2
Upload the PDF to TempleKit
Go to templekit.com/app and drop in the PDF. Your work is kept in this browser, so you can come back to it later.
- 3
Add your name and phone or email
They go in the return box on each card, so temple workers can send a card back to you if it needs it.
- 4
Say how each person is related
Pick the side of the family and how many generations back each person is. Each grandparent’s line gets its own colour. Then press Make the fronts.
- 5
Draft the backs
On the Backs step, press Draft every back. Each back is written from what’s printed on the card: the name, dates and places, and what life was like where they lived, with a small map.
- 6
Add your own words
Open any card in the list and paste a life sketch, a memory or a translated record into “Your own words for this back.” It goes first on the back, and redrafting never replaces it. Footnote marks like [2] are taken out for you.
- 7
Print one two-sided file
On the last step, build the print file and print it at Actual Size, two-sided, flipping on the long edge. If the backs don’t line up, print the calibration page once.
Where Claude can help (optional)
With a free Claude account and the TempleKit skill, Claude can read and translate an old record, or a biography in another language. Paste what it writes into “Your own words for this back.”
With a paid Claude plan (Pro or above) and Claude in Chrome or the Claude app, Claude can open each person’s FamilySearch page for you and save a details file: spouses, children, brothers and sisters, moves and how each person is related to you. The backs come out richer, and the relationships fill themselves in.
And now, my dearly beloved brethren and sisters, let me assure you that these are principles in relation to the dead and the living that cannot be lightly passed over, as pertaining to our salvation. For their salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation, as Paul says concerning the fathers—that they without us cannot be made perfect—neither can we without our dead be made perfect.

Do I need Claude or another AI account?
No. Every step works without one. Claude only adds family details the card doesn’t print, if you want them.
Does it cost anything?
No. TempleKit is free for every family and kept going by donations.
What happens to my PDF?
It’s sent to our server only to read it and build your printed pages. It isn’t stored there, and your labels and stories stay in your browser.
Can the cards be in another language?
Yes. Pick your language at the top of the page: the studio, the labels and the backs follow it, and the card keeps FamilySearch’s own words for that language.
I don’t have a printer. Can the temple print these?
The temple can print cards from the Family Ordinance Request number on your FamilySearch PDF, but those are FamilySearch’s plain cards from the temple’s own system, without TempleKit’s colours, labels or story backs. To keep your TempleKit cards, have the print file printed at a print shop, a library or a family member’s house: letter paper, two-sided, flip on long edge, Actual Size.
