Print family name cards two-sided
- 1
Print your cards from FamilySearch as a PDF
In FamilySearch, open your reservations, select the names and print family name cards. Save the PDF instead of printing it straight away.
- 2
Make your fronts and backs in TempleKit
Upload the PDF at templekit.com/app. Label the fronts, draft the backs, and check each card.
- 3
Run the printer calibration once
Print our one-page calibration sheet two-sided and hold it up to a window. The marks show how far your printer shifts the back; enter that, and every back lines up after that.
- 4
Print at Actual Size
In the print dialog choose Actual Size (or 100%), not Fit to Page. Letter paper, portrait. Cards are 3⅛ × 4⅞ inches; scaling makes the QR codes harder for the temple to scan.
- 5
Two-sided: flip on the long edge
With automatic two-sided printing, choose Two-sided, Flip on long edge, and print the single combined file.
- 6
No automatic two-sided? Print in two passes
Print the fronts. Put the stack back in the tray so the printer prints on the blank side, top edge going in the way your calibration sheet showed. Then print the backs.
- 7
Check one page against the light
Before printing everything, print one page and hold it to a window: the back should sit inside the front's border.
- 8
Cut on the dotted lines
Each story is printed behind its own card.
Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
Questions
What paper should I use?
Plain white printer paper works. A heavier paper, such as 65 lb cardstock, feels sturdier if your printer handles it; check its manual for the heaviest paper it can print two-sided.
Why is the back a little off?
Every printer shifts the second side slightly. Our calibration sheet measures your printer's shift so TempleKit can move the backs to match.
Will the temple accept a card with a back?
The temple scans the front: the long number and QR code. TempleKit never covers them and checks every QR code still scans before you can download. Follow your temple's instructions if they ask for anything different.
